Brought on by yesterday's post on what I want to do with my hair, I've decided to post two more entries of a similar vein, this time regarding something a little more "alternative" than haircuts.

Piercings~!



If you've been keeping up with my entries, you'll know that I finally got my navel ring around a week and a half ago? And I've had my earlobes pierced since childhood; the standard "one hole in each lobe" thing that like MILLIONS of girls get for no good reason than to wear earrings and be GIRLS. XD

Since highschool I've wanted a navel ring, and finally got it, but even earlier than then, I've wanted to have more ear piercings.

XD Yeah, I know. It gets worse as I go along.

I have a really weird preoccupation with the number three, so pretty much ever since I'd gotten my earlobes pierced the first time (they've been pierced at least 3 times; they got infected the first couple times), I've wanted to have three piercings in each lobe. Somewhere down the line I decided that I really wanted to have a cartilage piercing. At first I wanted just one, and couldn't decide on which ear. Now I've decided that it would probably just be easiest if I got them both done. XD SYMMETRYYYY.

Now the question is - COULD I really get this done? I don't see why I couldn't. Lots of actresses and models have multiple ear piercings. It's just a matter of wearing the appropriate jewelry. Something small and/or clear enough would hide the cartilage piercings, and fully healed lobes don't need to be retained. And then I have enough hair to cover the ears if it's not enough. Truth be told, my ears spend a lot of time being hidden behind my hair. XD

Now for the stuff the I'm REALLY not sure of - face and body piercings.

WARNING: WEIRD FACE EDIT RIGHT... NOW!!!



There's a reason everything's placed where it is, and it starts with the eyebrow. If I ever get the eyebrow done, I want it to be the right one. Why? Because for some fucked reason, I can only lift my left eyebrow. You'd think that would be reason to pierce the LEFT one, but I've heard stories about potential nerve damage in some eyebrow piercings? And if that happens, I wouldn't be able to lift the one eyebrow I CAN lift. I'd rather not risk it, so that means that the right one would be pierced.

From there on out it's a matter of balance. I don't want a bull ring or a labret, which means that the remaining piercings can only be on certain sides of the face. To keep it even, the piercings would be arranged in a > pattern - Right eyebrow, left nostril, right lip. LOWER lip, because I like my lower lip. XD

But now for the ever-present "CAN I get this done?" I really don't know if I could. Ear piercings are one matter for anyone acting, but facial piercings are another entirely. I think that if I got a small enough stud, I might be able to get the nose piercing. The eyebrow would be pushing it, but if I have my bangs, they could cover a small enough barbell or retainer? But I really don't know about my lip. Even if I used a retainer, the mouth is such a noticable part of the face because that's what we communicate through, and retainers aren't THAT good are concealing holes in the face. Ultimately, I can't see myself getting all THREE of these done, even though I'd like to. I'm not even sure if I would do two of the three. Honestly? IF I ever get a facial piercing, it would probably be the nose stud. To be interchanged with rings after healing if I feel like I need something a little more edgy. XD

Okay, just ONE more creepy-looking photo edit. And this one is by definitely the creepiest, I think. XD

BEWARE... THE FOUR POINT NAVEL PIERCING!



XD My GOD it looks so ridiculous in this edit. The bottom ball of my navel piercing is so big that even after I copied them three times and tried to arrange them, Photoshop was being Hella pissy and would let me space them too far apart, or two close together. Realistically speaking the piercing would rest in this position, but I would have to use navel rings that don't have such large bottom balls, lest they do EXACTLY this - overlap and shit. XD

So, the good thing about taking the time to edit shit like this is that it gives me a better idea of whether I'd really want to do this or not. I can honestly say that even though I was TOTALLY wanting to do this when I first saw it, I'm no longer sure. XD It's not even necessarily about the shitty quality of my edit. I'm fully aware that it wouldn't look JUST like that on me. I would be using different rings and whatnot. It's just that even WITH the appropriate rings... it would be kinda busy looking down there if I got this done, I think. It's the kind of piercing that I feel would go with someone who was more heavily encrusted in metal, if that makes any sense.

I picture myself as the actress trying to get away with what she can - multiple ear piercings, the navel, one small tattoo over her heart, MAYBE the nose - and I can't see someone who's going so sparingly on the ink and metal... piling a bunch of metal right onto the belly like that.

If I picture myself as some sorta badass, maybe a full-on alt model or some shit, with all the facial piercings added to the ears, and all the ink I'm dreaming of... THEN it would work. Because the other parts of me would be heavily embellished already.

So I think that, unless by some really BIZARRE turn of events I become the next Masuimi Max, the four point navel is going to remain a pipe dream. Besides, with all the nifty types of belly rings they have out there? Having just "one point" can be considered enough, I think. XD

Now, there is just ONE more piercing... one that I don't think I'd get even if I became the next Masuimi Max, because it's the kind of piercing that doesn't really... stay. Sadly.

THE CORSET PIERCING.



No, I do NOT have any edits of a corset piercing ON me. XD All this effort that I've already made? Please. XD

Anyway, part of my preoccupation with corsets has BEEN the criss-cross lacing, so this piercing is just like AMAZING to me. XD

The problem?

These are surface piercings usually placed in spots that are under constant motion or pressure. To be completely honest you'd be surprised how much your torso goes through, even if you are a lazy fuck. It's been over a week since I pierced my navel and I'm still feeling some tenderness when I bend down to tie my shoes... to give you a general idea.

But corset piercings are even more difficult to care for than the navel. If they're anywhere along your back, imagine the kind of Hell you put them through when you merely sit back against something, or even just hunch over a little, like most people do when they're NOT resting their back against something for an extended period of time. Corset piercings along your sides are under constant stress whenever you twist your torso. Corset piercings on the belly might have a little more luck? But corset piercings on your chest can be under pressure by the motion of your arms or shoulders, or your bosom. Corset piercings on your arms or legs can be under stress for the simple fact that you USE your arms and legs just to function in day-to-day life.

All that said, surface piercings in general are just a bitch, which is why the navel is a pain in the ass, and why the eyebrow is, too. (I mean, I lovelovelove my navel, but that IS the truth. If you want to KEEP your navel ring, it's definitely a labor of love. I'd know. XD) But corset piercings lie in areas of the body that are just that much more difficult to heal over properly without migration or rejection.

You can tell that I've done a lot of studying in the vain hope of seeing if a corset piercing could become permanent. XD For the MOST part they aren't used permanently. They're used for things like fetish events and alternative fashion shows and photoshoots. Nothing to be kept in for more than a few hours.

Which means that techinically, I totally COULD get a corset or two done. But am I willing the pay the kind of money it would take for a piercing I can only keep for a few hours? Not really. XD

That said, they HAVE come with ways to actually KEEP a corset piercing. Instead of using the usual captive bead rings, use surface bars.



The look is different, as you can tell. The ring doesn't look like it's coming out of the skin, because of the nature of the surface bar. It's just... not the SAME. That said, if I really want a corset piercing that badly, I would definitely get it done with surface bars. If I can make it through the healing stages without any migrating or rejecting, then it would be worth my money because I could KEEP it.

BUT BUT BUT

Here's that "CAN I really do this?" question. And honestly, unless I abandoned the whole, "keeping myself somewhat clean for the directors and designers to play with" thing and chose to openly embrace a fully alternative me... I wouldn't get it done. I can unlace a corset piercing, but that's one too many retainers that only somewhat conceal. And do they even make clear surface piercings that I could use as retainers? It's just too much. Just like the four point navel.

Buuuut, JUUUUST because we're partially playing fantasy, here - where would I get my corset(s) done, if I did them?

This is leaking into the future entry on ink, but because I'd want to have a tramp stamp, if can't be something that goes all the way down my back. I thought breifly about having it along the upper back.



This girl has the lacing going all the way up to her nape piercings, which I think is SUPAR pretty. XD

But then I realized that I would probably really want to get a certain winged type of tattoo along my shoulder blades, so that wouldn't do.

So I think what I would do is get two corsets - one down each side of my torso.



It's either that, or I get them along my forearms.



But I have a huge weakness for gloves, armwarmers, bracelets and bangles... so I don't think that having my arms done would REALLY work. XD

Okay. This fantasy is over. XD



So between my hair post and THIS post, I'm not sure if the ink post is gonna be able to top these two. As far as tattoos are concerned I have plenty of ideas, but they're all within my head, and very specific. These aren't exactly things that I could find via Google, and even if I did, I REALLY don't know if I'd want to spend the time learning how to Photoshop the image onto my body, though I know it can be done. It WOULD be a good learning experience, I guess...

Basically what I'm trying to say is that the ink entry, whenever I post that, will probably NOT be image intensive. I COULD, in theory, try my hand at drawing out my ideas and scanning them. In which case, in ANOTHER theory, I could attempt to Photoshop them onto images of myself. IF I have images of myself that would be easy to edit all the tatts onto.

I have no idea. We'll see.
